With the distinguished presence of the President of the Republic, Jimmy Morales, Chiquita inaugurated the expansion and reconstruction of the 5th. Avenida de Puerto Barrios, one of the most important roads in the departmental capital of Izabal.

The new work is part of the Road Planning Plan of the Municipality of Puerto Barrios and makes the 5th. Avenue on the main access road for heavy transportation to the Puerto Barrios Railway Terminal, directly benefiting the neighbors.

The project consisted of 1,200 linear meters of construction to improve the city's Fifth Avenue, which runs from Ninth to Seventeenth Street. Among the works considered are: Earth movement, 20 centimeters thick concrete pavement, Widening of street width from 8 to 9.6 meters, Traffic control devices, such as thermoplastic paint, reflective markers and installation of buoys, Construction of canals : reinforced slabs for streets, pedestrian and vehicle entrances, 3,344 square meters of construction of sidewalks for bicycle paths and pedestrians.
